Criminals and their privileges

I decided to insert this post as my first one, because the subject is really popular at the moment in Denmark. 

This is just the best news for everyone who is on the wrong side of the law. Denmark is really, REALLY polite towards criminals. Sometimes they are treated better than homeless or big families. How is that? Yeah, that is a good question. I will try to explain it.

I saw a TV show in Denmark, which was looking inside one of the prisons in Denmark (they have 8 open at the moment).

Prisoners has their own ROOM, with TV and Internet. They has a common kitchen with a really good equipment. What is available for them for free is a pool and other facilities where they can play and hang out together. I am not mentioning very good clothes prisoners are allowed to wear, instead of traditional orange suits.
When I saw this conditions I told to my Danish boyfriend, that they live better than we do, for what he agreed with me.

Another privilege for danish prisoners is that they are getting Christmas gifts! sponsored by the commune (which means with taxpayers' money). I will quickly remind that Danish citizens (as well as everyone working in Denmark) pay almost 50% of what they earned to the State. So, taxpayers donated gifts for around 5500 dkk (around 847 USD) in 2014. Now, at least, I know for what they use my money... I am not going to say that I am very happy about that!

It's not enough. Gifts is just the small part of how wealthy prisoners are. One of the young prisoners told his story, how he got skiing holidays abroad and diving certificate while being arrested and a job after leaving the prison. Even he explained, that he didn't feel like a criminal and that they treat everyone too mild.
Of course I understand the point or re-socializing people, but they really don't need luxury for this purpose. This is just insane that people have to work their asses off to go for skiing holiday, and the person who has a criminal background is getting all this for free. Oh excuse me, for MY and YOURS money!
